Cherishing the days at home

Yesterday, I spent the day with my mom. It is days like this one that I absolutely love being home. Now I just need to have a day like that with my dad and littlest sister. (I went bridesmaid shopping with my middle sister the day before yesterday, so that’s why I just need a day with the youngest one).

My mom and I started out the day by drinking coffee and talking in the living room (she woke me up extra early!). We then went to Mt. Washington Florist (as soon as it opened – at 8am) and browsed at some flowers to get ideas for the wedding. Honestly, neither one of us knows a ton about flowers (my mom knows more than I do, though!), so we realized that we needed to talk to a florist and get some ideas. We made some good progress with that! I cannot say that I definitely know what kind of flowers I want, but the florist seemed to know the colors that I was talking about, as well as understand the overall atmosphere. So that’s a plus!

The day before that, my mom and I found a flower farmer that arranges wildflowers – so that’s another option. We’re still trying to figure it all out. I need to research flowers and just teach myself about them now. :) Anyway, we have a start to our “flower search,” which I’m happy about!
Another quick wedding update – I think I know what the bridesmaid dresses will look like/where we’re going to order them from, so that’s all taken care of, too! Checking things off the list one at a time! 😉
Now back to what my mom and I did yesterday… after going to Mt. Washington Florist, we grabbed a cup of coffee and headed up to the outlet mall. We were going “back to work” shopping. :) We went to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe, OH. It’s about a 45 minute drive from my house, so it’s not too bad. In the midst of all of this, it was downpouring. Therefore, there weren’t many shoppers at the outlet mall at all! My mom was like my own little personal shopper – it was so much fun!

After shopping for clothes, my mom and I headed down to Reading, OH to go to The Glass Barn. The Glass Barn is a warehouse that has a bunch of old glassware, as well as bunch of other trinkets. We found some really cute little lanterns and some other stuff. I bought a few things to show Justin when I see him next. I’d love to find the centerpieces for the tables at this place because we can customize it and be creative… I love “arts and crafts time”!!

Here’s one of the little lanterns that I found…

Anyway, I think that pretty much updates everyone on my day yesterday with my mom. I’ll never be too old for those days… ever. :)
I had to add these pictures in here as well because they remind me of my mom. This dove laid her eggs in this flower basket on my parents’ front porch and my mom fell in love with them. This is actually the second set of babies that hatched this season. My mom checks on them everyday.
My mom is like this Momma Bird – she protects.
