Touring Atlanta…

More like HOTLANTA. I now know where it gets its name. It is stinking hot down there. Hot and humid.

So for the 3 of the past 4 weeks I have spent some time in Atlanta. This past week I was down there from Sunday evening till Friday afternoon. I was down there with my travel buddy Ben. Even though we never really plan it, we always seem to travel together.

Anyway, this post is not about work. Not at all. This post is actually going to be about doing a little site seeing.

Now to set this up. I would never recommend going to Atlanta for vacation. There isn’t a whole lot to do. We spent all that time there and spent most of it in the hotel. We stayed on the north side of Atlanta in the suburbs where there is absolutely nothing to do. It was just typical suburbia with lots of chains. Not really all that exciting.

So Ben and I decided that on Thursday afternoon we would go downtown and find something to do. So we worked in the morning like normal and then came back to the hotel to clean up a bit. Then we headed downtown. The guys at the golf course told us to take the train downtown because that would just be the easiest and quickest. So the photo above is from the start of the train ride to downtown.

Our first stop was the World of Coca-Cola.
You can see the aquarium in the background. We decided to go to the Coke Museum over the aquarium for one reason. Cheaper…Well that an the fact you can go to an aquarium anywhere. There is only one Coca-Cola museum. The following are a few pictures from the museum.

Holding Room
Main Area
1900 Soda Shop Bar
A couple of old Coca-Cola dispensers

Olympic Torches
Ben and I with the FIFA mascot
Ben and I with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear
(this thing was really weird)
The tasting room
(64 flavors from around the world)

After the museum we decided we would walk to Olympic Park.

Olympic Rings
A bum washing up in the Park

Then it was on to the Braves game for the evening. They were playing the Rays.

Turner Field
Batting Practice
Our Seats
(which were great, and cheap)
Big bottle of Coke and Huge Cow
After the Home Run

So there you have it. That is what you can do on a Thursday in Atlanta. Oh ya, did I say it was hot…Because it was. I am sure there will be more posts about Atlanta in the future as I will be there more in the coming months.
